Title: Grant Specialist
Period of Assignment: 5 months with possibility of extension
Location: Ankara
Project: Participatory, Inclusive and Green Recovery for Local Public Services in Host Communities Project
A. Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Manages all contractual and financial aspects of Local Subsidies and Grant Agreements, and ensures that the administration of these financing agreements functions well in accordance with GIZ and the project standard procedures
- Supervises project partners (NGOs and others) in complying with GIZ procedures, clarifying queries on financial reports, financial planning, and monitoring of funds, as well as accounting of granted projects
- Conducts commercial and legal eligibility checks for recipients and follows up on audits related to Grant Agreements
- Organizes, designs, and conducts trainings on financial aspects of Financing Agreements for project staff and NGO staff
- Contributes to progress reporting to donors
- Acts as liaison to NGOs supporting Syrian refugees, one of the main beneficiaries of the project
- Supports the successful implementation of internal and external audits of the project
- Where appropriate and reasonable, the position holder is willing to perform tasks outside the scope of the job description
B. Required qualifications, competences and experience:
Education/Qualifications
- BA in business administration, social sciences or equivalent
Professional experience
- At least 5 years of professional experience in a comparable position
- Excellent knowledge of contracting and finance procedures
- Knowledge of both GIZ technical implementation methods and financial processes
- Well experienced in preparing financial reports and supporting documents towards donors
- Experience in working with NGOs supporting vulnerable groups
- Advanced working knowledge of ICT and analytical tools is required
- Able to communicate effectively in English and Arabic, knowledge of Turkish is an asset
Other knowledge, additional competences
- Outstanding verbal and very good written communication skills
- Prepared to travel extensively all over Türkiye
