This role encompasses oversight of activities related to development of advocacy papers, and policy briefings rooted in RI’s research and desk studies, representing RI in technical forums related to Disability and inclusion such as technical working groups, communication internally and externally, and oversight with partners’ communications. Additionally, the coordinator will be responsible for the organization and coordination of various events, which may include, but are not limited to, annual summits, stakeholder workshops, and roundtable meetings.
Position’s Summary:
Relief International (RI) is actively looking for a skilled Policy and Advocacy Coordinator who will take the lead in enhancing the visibility of our operations, driving communications and advocacy initiatives throughout the entire country office, and represent our work in Disability and Inclusion Task Team in different fora. This role encompasses oversight of activities related to development of advocacy papers, and policy briefings rooted in RI’s research and desk studies, representing RI in technical forums related to Disability and inclusion such as technical working groups, communication internally and externally, and oversight with partners’ communications. Additionally, the coordinator will be responsible for the organization and coordination of various events, which may include, but are not limited to, annual summits, stakeholder workshops, and roundtable meetings.
In this position, the individual will work closely with team members and partners to craft relevant communications, policy papers, and advocacy materials, such as technical presentations that showcase RI’s impactful work, needs and recommendations, among other resources.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Policy Analysis and Development:
Monitor and analyze global, regional, and national policies, laws, and regulations related to Disability and Inclusion with focus on RI’s Türkiye programming.
Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in Disability and Inclusion policy and advocacy.
Identify gaps and opportunities for Disability and Inclusion policy development and improvements.
Develop evidence-based policy recommendations and position papers to address Disability and Inclusion challenges.
Produce advocacy briefings based on RI researches and program findings for internal and external use
2. Advocacy Strategy:
Develop and implement comprehensive advocacy strategies to raise awareness of critical Disability and Inclusion issues and influence policy changes.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build coalitions and partnerships for effective advocacy campaigns.
Coordinate advocacy activities, including media outreach, public speaking engagements, and grassroots mobilization.
3. Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain relationships with governmental agencies, I/NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders with regard to RI programs focusing on disability, inclusion, and protection.
Represent the organization in relevant forums, conferences, and working groups with prime focus on Disability and Inclusion task Team.
Engage in efforts to garner support for our policy and advocacy initiatives.
4. Capacity Building:
Provide training and guidance to staff, and partners on Disability and Inclusion policy and advocacy-related issues.
Ensure that the organization is well-informed and prepared to engage effectively in advocacy efforts.
Communications and Visibility:
Lead the development of RI Türkiye communications materials, including program briefs, presentations, and human-interest stories, in collaboration with the program teams.
Perform other communication and visibility-related tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Safeguarding
Uphold and promote RI’s commitment to ensuring the safeguarding and safety of the vulnerable communities we serve.
Consistent with RI’s safeguarding and protection policies, ensure your job related activity and practice is compliant with safeguarding standards.
Experience and Skills:
Bachelor’s in international studies, social sciences or related field.
A minimum of 4 years of advocacy and communication experience in the INGO/Humanitarian field.
Experience in protection, disability, and inclusion is an asset.
Experience in producing advocacy papers, and/or active engagement with advocacy works.
Familiarity with ECHO, USAID, BPRM visibility/branding and marking rules and guidelines.
Experience in communication, documentation, publication in relation to the INGO/Humanitarian sector.
Excellent written and spoken English and Turkish; Arabic will be an advantage.
Very good knowledge on Microsoft Office (365) applications.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently.
