Title: Occupational Physician

Duration: 1 year with the possibility of extension

Working conditions: 8 hours a month in total

Location: Ankara

A. Main Tasks and Responsibilities

·         Develop, implement, and review policies and procedures to ensure that GIZ meets all the statutory requirements relating to the Law on Occupational Health and Safety no. 6331

·         Provide specialist advice and consultancy services to management and employees on Occupational Safety and Health issues.

·         Guide GIZ about the work conditions of the employees considering occupational health and safety standards.

·         Advise on and propose precaution measures concerning occupational health and safety and notify in written GIZ (both in Turkish and English languages);

·         Research the reasons of occupational accidents and define relevant precautionary measures and suggestions.

·         Conduct workplace inspections.

·         Develop and prepare health and safety information content for communication tools, presentations, and publications.

·         Conduct risk assessment and prepare a risk management plan regarding the risks in the working terms and environment of the employees (both in Turkish and English languages),

·         Assist, advise, and inform on any changes in the legal requirements to the HR Department to ensure full compliance with the Law on Occupational Health and Safety no. 6331.

·         Plan, implement, and propose training and awareness-raising programs for all staff and lead in the promotion of a culture that prioritizes employee safety and wellness (both in Turkish and English languages).

·         Cooperate with the Head of Risk Management Office on designing safety and emergency procedures and their manuals.

·         Participate to relevant internal and external committees.

The Occupational Physician is responsible to report to the Head of HR.

Working Hours:

·         The Occupational Physician will work 2 hours per week, with specific days and hours to be determined based on organizational needs and scheduling arrangements.

B. Required qualifications, competences and experience

Education/Qualifications

·         Medical degree from a recognized institution, with specialization in Occupational Medicine or related field preferred.

·         Have official Occupational Physician certification accredited by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security

Professional experience

·         Minimum 5 years of professional experience practicing as an Occupational Physician or similar role, preferably in an international or multicultural environment.

·         Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, regulations, and best practices.

·         Experience in providing advisory support to managers and staff in relation to the Law on Occupational Health and Safety no. 6331.

Other knowledge, additional competences

·         IT Skills: Excellent command of MS Office, experienced in using PowerPoint for presentations.

·         Language Skills: Native in Turkish, proficiency in English, and knowledge of German is a strong advantage.

·         Knowledge of related legislation and legislative obligations and how they impact on employment and service delivery.

·         Well-developed communication skills (oral and written including report writing and presentation skills.)

·         Ability to research, analyze and organize credible health and safety information to formulate and prepare written technical resources.

·         Effective interpersonal skills and excellent ability to work in a team environment.

·         Excellent time management skills and organizational skills.
